Irish MusicThursday 13 March 2003
Hazel O'Connor
For centuries women have been at the centre of Irish music - both as performers and as inspiration for the songs.

Hazel O'Connor's latest tour, alongside one of Ireland's leading traditional musicians, incorporates some of the old tunes. So what is the history and the importance of women in Irish song?
Hazel O'Connor, harpist Cormac de Barra and Nuala O'Connor, author of Bringing It All Back Home join Jenni to discuss women's influence on Irish music.
Tour details: 6 March until 2 April 2003. They are playing Manchester's Life Café on the 13 March
'Bring It All Back Home' by Nuala O'Connor, published by BBC Consumer Publishing (Books); ISBN: 0563361956
