Angelika Kirchschlager is an acclaimed mezzo soprano who recently took London by storm, playing the title role in the opera Sophie's Choice.

Angelika is now back in Britain performing a concert of Bach arias and she joins Jenni to explain the appeal of this classic Baroque music and why - even though she's a world renowned singer - she's still a smoker.
Angelika Kirchschlager in concert with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, Wednesday 14 May 2003 at the Barbican, Southbank, London, in which she sings J.S. Bach Arias:
Schlummert ein, ihr matten Augen (Fall asleep, you weary eyes) from Cantata no 82 Vergnugte Ruh (Contented rest) from Cantata no 170 Herr, was du willst (Lord, as you will) from Cantata no 156 Widerstene doch der Gunde (So stand against sin) from Cantata no 54 Erbarme Dich (Have pity) from St Matthew Passion Bereite Dich Zion (Prepare yourself Zion) from Christmas Oratorio Wie Soll ich dich Empfangen (How shall I receive you) from Christmas Oratorio Venice Baroque Orchestra, conductor Andrea Marcon.
