The Colour RedTuesday 1 July 2003
A couple of the leading swimwear designers - DKNY and Christian Dior have swimsuits and bikinis this year in bright red - which is one way to get yourself noticed on the beach.

There are so many tempting shades of the colour that stands for both life and death and joy and rage. And the history of how so many different colours of red evolved is, apparently, passionate and sometimes bloody.
In the next of our series about artists' colours, Victoria Finlay, author of Colour: Travels Through the Paintbox, took Jennifer Chevalier to the National Gallery to discuss the range of reds used by Turner.
