Dr Kathleen Drew-Baker is a hero in Japan, with her own statue and shrine. She made it her life's work to study seaweed and it was her research which helped save the Japanese nori industry. It's central to the production of sushi, a business now worth millions.
An exhibition of her work will be on display at a new science gallery, opening at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry next year. Centre stage will be the microscope she used in her work. Rebecca Sandles was there as it was presented to the museum by Dr Drew-Baker's son, John.
