Summer Sizzlers - Day LilyMonday 11 August 2003
The fashion in garden design over recent years has leant towards pastel colours, so when the borders are in full bloom they're dominated by soft pinks, mauves and blues.

But in our series of summer sizzlers Corinne Julius has gone in search of some rather more robust colours to fill the borders with a spot of red hot passion. She joined Maggie Campbell Culver, the author of the Origins of Plants, in her garden to look at the Day Lily.
The Origin of Plants: The People and Plants That Have Shaped Britain's Garden History Since the Year 1000, by Maggie Campbell-Culver, Published 6 Sept 2001 by Headline, ISBN: 074727214X
