Deliveries at midwife-only Wyre Forest Birth Centre in Kidderminster have been suspended following the recent deaths of two babies. The unit, which was run without obstetricians and anaesthetists, aimed to allow women deemed to be 'low risk' to have their babies there.
An independent enquiry has been ordered to look whether the criteria used to assess what is expected to be an uncomplicated labour is rigorous enough. Jenni is joined by obstetrician Maggie Blott and Frances Day-Stirk of the Royal College of Midwives.
