The airport is experiencing some of the longest delays in the US as TSA agents work without pay in a partial shutdown.

Nearly 40% of the security staff at the George Bush airport did not show up - the highest such rate in the country, US media report.

Hundreds of ICE agents have been deployed to 14 airports, in cities including New York, Atlanta and Houston.

The Home Office says the increase will help it "move to a system that meets its costs through those who use it" and rely less on taxpayers.
