The Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra joins the internationally renowned pianist Xiang-Dong Kong, who has recently returned to the stage after time away from performing, in Rachmaninov's third piano concerto. The concert concludes with Liszt's symphonic poem Mazeppa, adapted from a poem by Victor Hugo telling of the escapades of the Ukrainian Ivan Stepanovich Mazepa-Koledinsky.
