The BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Principal Conductor Ryan Bancroft perform a programme of music inspired by nature in the music of Mahler and Brahms. The concert opens with the gloriously lyrical violin concerto by Brahms, inspired by the Italian sun and the dances he played with his Hungarian violinist friend in his youth. The acclaimed young Swedish violinist Johan Dalene is the soloist in this epic work. A recent BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, Johan is known for his stunningly rich tone and deeply personal musicianship; a compelling performance not to be missed. After the interval we'll hear Mahler's youthful First Symphony, inspired by the beauty and folklore of the Alps and Austrian forests.
