Jessica Reynolds, Nathan Anthony and Claire Bowes
Saturday with John ToalAvailable for 24 days
Northern Irish actress Jessica Reynolds joins us to talk about her new leading role in the epic drama ‘A Woman of Substance’. Known for her performances in ‘Kneecap’ and ‘The House of Guinness’, Jessica now steps into the shoes of a young Emma Harte in this sweeping Channel 4 series which charts the rise of the woman who became the richest in the world. Home cook and social media sensation Nathan Anthony, better known as ‘Bored of Lunch’, shares how posting simple recipes from his kitchen in Portadown led to millions of views, bestselling cookbooks, and regular appearances on shows like ‘This Morning’. He also weighs in on the big question: could the air fryer soon replace the traditional oven? We head four thousand miles away and go live to Montserrat in the Caribbean to speak with Jayesh Sadhwani, who is right in the middle of the island’s ten day St Patrick’s Festival. He explains why Montserrat is the only place outside Ireland to mark St Patrick’s Day as a national holiday. In the studio, The Reillys warm us up for the celebrations closer to home with a performance of ‘Wild Rover’ and their brand new single ‘Brother’. John visits the Omagh Music Academy to meet Claire Bowes, who was sixteen when she lost her sight in the 1998 Omagh bombing. Claire reflects on her remarkable story of resilience, shared in a chapter of a new book titled ‘When There Is Only Plan A’. John also catches up with Geoff Wilson, who is retiring after forty years of salvaging architectural antiques, from bronze horse sculptures to a Romanian train station, at his landmark yard in Dromore. And in the kitchen, Paula makes a Lemon Crunch Pie with blueberries.
