The Wakefield motel to the stars announces closure

Sir Tom Jones, The Three Degrees, Diana Ross and Dame Shirley Bassey have all stayed at the Redbeck Motel in Colton, Wakefield. Whilst it's proudly never closed it's doors, offerings 24/7 bed and board, they motel has announced that will close for the first and last time in February 2026. Opened in 1969, the Redbeck became famous for its round‑the‑clock breakfasts and its appearances on programmes including Emmerdale, but despite strong local opposition, plans were approved at the end of last year to demolish the motel and replace it with 90 new homes.
