President Trump: US has "totally obliterated" every military target on Iran's Kharg Island

Weekend

Available for 9 days

President Trump says the US has "totally obliterated" every military target on Iran's Kharg Island. Around 90% of Iran's oil exports pass through the island making it a critical economic lifeline for Tehran. Mr Trump said oil infrastructure was not targeted, but warned it could be. Also on the programme: Lebanon's health ministry says at least 12 medical workers have been killed in an Israeli strike on a healthcare centre in the south of the country; and we hear from the Latvian athletes who clinched the country's first ever medal at a Winter Paralympics. Joining our presenter Julian Worricker to discuss these stories and more are Ellie Geranmayeh, a senior policy fellow and deputy head of the Middle East and North Africa programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations, and Alistair Burt, former Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK.
