Nigerian alte/RnB/afrobeats singer-songwriter Tolani has just released a heart-on-her-sleeve album. As she tells DJ Edu, much of it is inspired by a particularly painful breakup, and the title references Tolani’s tendency to procrastinate. Songs range from Hate Loving, inspired by relationships that drag on long after the love has died, to Treasure, which is about regaining confidence after a breakup, and Punish You, a gleeful revenge number. Tolani also talks about the challenges of forging a music career when you come from a family of celebrities. Her father is billionaire Femi Otedola - one of Nigeria’s richest men. She anticipates a level of criticism other artists might not suffer, and this is one of the reasons it has taken her so long to release her album.
