The BBC has so many digital services online. But not everyone has the opportunity to access those services.

So it's great that we can open our doors to people and say, "Come in, you can get on the Internet here!"

It's completely free to surf the web. You can drop in at any time - you don't need to book. There's no maximum time limit, though if people are waiting we might ask you to give up your place.

If you're an internet novice, don't worry - we can show you how it works. Our cyberguides can help you begin, and find the sites that you're interested in!

It's great, because once people are excited about the Internet, they want to know more.

People surfing in the open centre
You can drop in any time to surf.

And in the Learning Centre, we can help people learn how to do word processing, e-mail and even how to make a website.

We can take people on a huge learning journey, and we can use the BBC's websites to teach and train people - they're a wonderful resource.

We actively encourage those who have never ventured online to just drop in and have a go. There are sessions on how to access the internet, use e-mail, and desktop publishing or edit video and pictures.

Whatever you'd like to explore - gardening, health, languages, history, first aid, sport, robot building, or GCSE revision - you'll find something new and exciting to learn.

If you want to learn French or Spanish for your holiday, or do a practical First Aid course, we can show you how - with the BBC.

We also use computers to bring other parts of the BBC to life and make them relevant to where you live.

And the people who come in get to meet people who work at the BBC. They can watch journalists editing the breakfast programme, see presenters who often drop in, and meet the Action Desk team. It really is open!

They might see us recording radio - or even be interviewed - in the Open Centre itself!
