Milan buy Mesbah and recall Strasser from loan

AC Milan have recalled Sierra Leone's Rodney Strasser from his loan spell at fellow Serie A side Lecce.

Lecce report on their website that they have also sold Algeria international Djamel Mesbah to the Italian champions.

As part of the deal, Lecce have acquired part-ownership of Milan teenage striker David Speziale.

Milan have also re-signed German teenager Alexander Merkel from Genoa, in part to cover for injured Ghanaian Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The former Black Star, 24, who announced his international retirement last year, external, has pulled his hamstring and is expected to be out for a month, Milan said.

Merkel, 19, moved to Genoa from Milan in the off-season as part of the deal which took Boateng to the Serie A champions.

Kazakh-born Merkel is part-owned by both clubs but Genoa hold his licence so Milan have had to sign him on loan.

Strasser joined Lecce on a one-year deal in July 2011, external, while Mesbah contested the 2010 World Cup with Algeria.
