Daws wins light welterweight belt
Lenny Daws
Daws reached the title fight after beating Colin Lynes in an eliminator
Lenny Daws claimed the vacant British light welterweight crown with a hard-fought victory over Nigel Wright at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

After a scrappy opening, the Morden fighter, 27, stepped up a gear after the third round and he landed the cleaner shots throughout.

Former ABA champion Daws was awarded a unanimous 117-111 points decision.

"It's a dream come true," Daws said after the match. "It was a tough fight but to win is just unbelievable."
