Johanneson fails in European bid | | Armenia's Leva Kirakosyan defended his European super featherweight title with a fourth-round stoppage of Britain's Carl Johanneson in Barnsley. Johanneson hit the canvas three times before eventually succumbing to a heavy right uppercut after one minute and 50 seconds of the fourth round. It knocked him out and the referee stopped the contest without a count. Kirakosyan was the last man to beat British champion in December 2004, since when he has won seven straight.
