Rory McIlroy will play in the Ryder Cup next month

Rory McIlroy fired a three-under-par 68 at the BMW Championship on Saturday to keep his hopes alive of making the final FedEx Cup play-off event.

The Holywood player carded five birdies and two bogeys in the third round to move to five over and joint 47th place in Chicago.

McIlroy needs a top-27 finish to qualify for the Tour Championship final in two weeks.

American Ryan Moore holds a one-shot lead on eight under.
