O'Brien well beaten in Tashkent
Katie O'Brien
O'Brien WTA ranking of 145 will be boosted by her success
Katie O'Brien's run at the Tashkent Open ended in the quarter-finals with a 6-2 6-3 loss to Olga Govortsova.

The British number two, currently 145 in the world, has enjoyed a good week in Uzbekistan, reaching the last eight of a WTA Tour event for the first time.

But Belarussian third seed Govortsova, ranked 55th, proved too strong on the day for the Yorkshire 22-year-old.

O'Brien is still hoping to reach the final of the doubles with partner Akgul Amanmuradova from Uzbekistan.

The duo take on Belarus pair Ekaterina Dzehalevich and Anastasiya Yakimova later on Friday.
