Short forms of the past tense is formed by adding endings to the stem of the verb.
For example:
Edrych - Edrychais i Edrychaist ti Edrychodd e or edrychodd o (North Wales) Edrychodd hi Edrychon ni Edrychoch chi Edrychon nhw
Another way of conveying the same meaning is to use the past tense of the verb gwneud with the verb noun:
Mi wnes i alw - I called
Wnes i feddwl - I thought
Beth wnaeth ddigwydd - What happened
Ddaru is also used to convey the same meaning in North Wales
Ddaru fi alw - I called
Ddaru fi feddwl - I thought
Beth ddaru ddigwydd - What happened
Noun clauses introduced by 'bod'
Take the two sentences. Dw i'n meddwl - I think and Mae Jenny yn poeni - Jenny is worried. When we combine both sentences - In English using the word that and in Welsh bod the construction is:
Dw i'n meddwl bod Jenny yn poeni - I think that Jenny is worried
