  • As you can see verbs in the future tense follow the same pattern as verbs in the past tense. At the beginning of a negative statement an aspirate mutation effects the letters T, C, and P: tTh, C>Ch, pPh. A soft mutation effects the letters B, G, D, Ll, M and Rh: B>F, g/, D>Dd, LlL, M>F, RhR. There is a soft mutation at the beginning of a question for the letters T, C, P, B, G, D, Ll, M, Rh.

  • Be' gei di i frecwast yfory?
What will you have for breakfast tomorrow?

Mi ga i dost a sudd oren

Be' gawn ni i swper yfory?
What will we have for supper tomorrow?

Mi gawn ni bysgod a sglodion

  • Cofiwch - mae treiglad meddal ar ôl mi ga i, mi gei di etc.
  • Remember - there is a soft mutation after mi ga i, cei di etc.
e.e. Mi geith hi frechdan ham, mi gawn ni bysgod a sglodion.
  • The verb CAEL is also used to ask permission.Ga i means 'may I?' as well as 'may I have?'.
  • Ga i fynd i'r ty^ bach?May I go to the toilet?
Gawn ni edrych ar y teledu?May we watch the television?
    Ga i agor y ffenest?May I open the window?

    Ga i fara?Cei!
    Ga i agor y ffenest?Na chei!
    Gawn ni chwarae?Cewch!
    Gawn ni sglodion?Na chewch!
