Asking a questions

In this section we will learn how to ask for something. We say:

Ga i ...? - Can I have ...? or Gawn ni ...? - Can we have?

Ga i hufen iรข?Can I have ice cream?
Ga i chwarae?Can I play?
Gawn ni siocled? Can we have chocolate?
Gawn ni sudd oren? Can we have orange juice?

  • Notice that a soft mutation follows 'ga i', and 'gawn ni'. The letters T, C, P, B, G, D, Ll, M, Rh change. Look at these examples:
  • Ga i de?Can I have tea?te changes to de
    Ga i fara?Can I have bread?bara changes to fara
    CewchYes
    Na chewchNo

You should use this response if you address a person as chi and if you are talking to more than one person.

    The informal response is:

    CeiYes
    Na cheiNo

You will use this response with people that you address as ti.
