A new life

Operation Babylift - launched in April 1975 - saw more than 2,600 Vietnamese babies and children airlifted to the United States, Canada and several European countries.

It was a chance for a new beginning in a time of war.

But it posed difficult questions. The children were not just adoptees, but strangers in a foreign country.
