"I�ve attended six IWC meetings in the last 15 years. It has changed a lot; there�s a feel of set-piece about it, and particularly on the pro-whaling side, that there are carefully marshalled forces.

"The IWC is much maligned; but like old age, it�s a great deal better than the alternative."
