Key points about separable verbs

In German there are a group of verbs called separable verbA separable verb is a verb with a detachable prefix which goes to the end of the sentence when the verb is conjugated in the present tense. .
They are formed when a prefixA prefix is a small word part eg an-, auf-, ein-, mit-. Prefixes are added to a verb to create a new meaning. has been added to the main verb.
The meaning of a verb can change by adding a prefix. For example: Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. → to travel, becomes Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. → to depart.
These prefixes are separable because they detach from the main verb when the verb is conjugateMeans changing the verb ending to match the person doing the action, eg: *ich spiele, du spielst, wir spielen.*.

For example:
Take the An infinitiveIs the form of the verb you will find in a dictionary before the verb is conjugated. It is the basic form of the verb. In German in infinitive ends in -en or -n and the equivalent in English is (to) to play, to go, to listen.Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. (to get up). auf- is the separable prefixThese are prefixes that are added to words to change their meaning. , and Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again. is the main verb.
Conjugate the main verb as normal:
Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again.
Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again.
Sorry, something went wrongCheck your connection, refresh the page and try again.
Then place the prefix at the end of the sentence:

Remember:
If extra detail is added, the prefix auf still goes to the end of the sentence.
For example:
