Janet and Binky were the result of an unwanted pregnancy. Their mother was an alcoholic fan dancer called Ethel. She was always spectacularly drunk and hence spectacularly popular since she was always dropping her fans during her striptease.

Ethel has never admitted, and probably does not know, who their father was.
