Robia LaMorte was born in New York. She studied at the LA School for the Performing Arts, and the Dupree Dance Academy, graduating in 1988. At 16 she became a professional dancer who quickly found employment appearing in numerous music videos. She gained fame and a degree of notoriety when she appeared in a series of videos for Prince (including 'Gett Off', 'Sexy MF' and 'Cream') as one of his featured dancers, 'Pearl'. She also appeared on the cover of his 1991 album 'Diamonds and Pearls'.

She retired from dancing shortly afterwards, and moved into acting. She appeared in various TV series like 'Beverly Hills 90210', 'Silk Stalkings' and 'The Pretender' before joining the cast of 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer', initially only for one episode, 'I Robot… You Jane'. She's also appeared in several movies including 'Spawn', 'Deirdre's Party', 'Twelve Stops on the Road to Nowhere' and 'Chicks, Man'. She's currently appearing as a nurse in a TV series called 'Rescue 77'.
