How many people listen to BBC Local Radio?

BBC Local Radio has gone from strength to strength in recent years, with many audience success stories across the country.

The service is particularly popular in the winter and in times of crisis - so listening increases when something like the floods of Summer 2007 or Foot and Mouth hit an area. The latest figures available are for the second quarter of 2007 (April to June), meaning that for most BBC Local Radio stations the figures released also cover the first group of three months in 2007. In this "reporting period", BBC Local Radio in England was heard every week by 7.39 million people - 18.3% of the 15+ population. In all, listening to BBC Local Radio accounted for 9.1% of all listening to the radio in England during Q2 2007.

BBC Radio Cornwall at 38.5% achieved notable results, with its highest reach for several years.
