Concert Information
Forget what you thought you knew about orchestral concerts; this new and innovative series request that you DO turn on your mobile phones and tablets.
The BBC Philharmonic, in partnership with the University of Salford, will be exploring new and rarely performed pieces â bringing audience immersion and new technology to the forefront.
This evening:
Join us to celebrate the Universityâs 50th anniversary as we go back to the French Baroque for the last concert of this series. The orchestra performs Jean-FĂŠry Rebelâs 1737 ballet score The Elements, and Maurice Ravelâs early 20th Century ballet-tribute to his great Baroque predecessor François Couperin. Alongside these are Thomas Adèsâ contemporary orchestrations of Couperin, and late romantic composer Richard Straussâ own 1941 arrangement of Couperin, his Divertimento.
At the interval, join host Elizabeth Alker (BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio 3) for an interval discussion.
