Watch out for BLAST in Gloucester this November. In fact - you probably won't have to watch out for it at all as it'll be pretty 'in yer face' and hard to miss.
Blast is for the cityÂ’s new generation; the musicians, DJs, artists, clubbers, gig-goers, MCs, skaters, dancers and all the other people who enjoy modern city life and actually get out there and do something! | | Vanessa Simpson - Communications Officer |
Blast is the biggest music and multimedia festival of its kind in the UK and the whole event is organised by Gloucester City Council. The month-long fest will feature some exclusive new visual media commissions from artists Leo Saunders, Peter Hilary and Keith Murray as well as live concerts, dance and poetry performances and major club events. Chart stars Lisa Maffia and Romeo will be going head-to-head at Liquid Nightclub and hardcore rock monsters Sikth and ska-punk kings Farse and Jesse James will also be providing the musical entertainment at the Guildhall. Enjoy modern city life? Vanessa Simpson, City Council Communications Officer said: "Blast is for the cityÂ’s new generation; the musicians, DJs, artists, clubbers, gig-goers, MCs, skaters, dancers and all the other people who enjoy modern city life and actually get out there and do something!" And there's no doubt that Gloucester has a great underground band scene - featured extensively on this site and showcased admirably at the Guildhall through the Wired gigs. | | So Solid: Lisa Maffia |
Wired 2003 features the city's top new talent at three gigs with 12 young bands getting all 'rock n roll' for your delectation and delight. You'll even get a free compilation CD to take home. Massive funding Michael Power, Cabinet Member for Learning and Leisure said: "Blast is now in its third year and has been successful in gaining massive funding. "As the biggest event of its kind in the UK it goes a long way in helping to confirm Gloucester's profile as a developing, forward-thinking city on the cultural map."
