    Greg James
Live from Radio 1's Longest Ride

Adrenaline is a mad thing and I'm absolutely buzzing with it at the minute.

I am so locked in with this, I'm so focused I don't even recognise myself.

I am a maniac at the minute. Let's lock in the mania, and let's keep going.

If that total keeps going up, I'll keep going up.

I love Radio 1 with my whole heart. I've been listening to it for most of my life, and I've been on it for half of it, it's such a part of me I'd be lost without it.

    Thank you everyone, let's go!

  4. What a momentpublished at 09:56 GMT

Greg has had to pull over to the side of the road to react to his latest total.

He runs over to some tiny white dogs and almost picks them up, he's so excited.

"Thank you. I feel like my heart's gonna burst with joy at what is happening so far."

He even has to apologise for swearing on air. That's a first for Greg. Apologies if you were offended by some of the language you heard.

  8. "Ziggy is going to be so proud of his dad"published at 09:16 GMT

    Sophie Habboo
    Jamie Laing's wife

I couldn't be more excited to see Jamie riding on the back of the bike in... underwear!

Ziggy is going to be so proud of his dad.

Jamie is either going to hate it, or secretly love it, either way it will be hilarious. I just hope it's not my wedding stuff...

It takes a lot to embarrass him, but this is going to do it. Especially the garter and the corset. I'm not sure how he's going to fit into a corset? He's quite stocky, but he's got to make it happen! I don't even want to think about the underpants...

Everyone needs to send in that money so we can make it happen, he's going to absolutely hate it!

  10. "Everything is a lot"published at 09:01 GMT

    Greg James
Live from Radio 1's Longest Ride

"I'm depleted today," admits Greg, speaking to Radio 1's Matt & Mollie. "I feel quite teary today."

"Everything is bubbling up a little bit - I've had to put everything to one side for ages, to get ready for this. And I spoke to my mum this morning, asking if she'd heard from dad, and she said: 'He was trying to ring Producer Amy in the night', because he wanted an update on the challenge but didn't wanna disturb us?"

"I haven't spoken to dad in ages. I haven't had a proper conversation with him in three weeks because he's had a stroke. And I was like, 'What's happening? Is his brain muddled?'

Greg's producer Amy tells him: "We had a lovely chat. Alan's doing very well. And we spoke about WhatsApp voicenotes and how it works for a little bit."

Greg: "That's dad doing dad things. I dunno. Everything is a lot. And I genuinely have been cheered up by all of this, but I'm pretty done. And I understand why people are messaging saying I'm really there, but I'm not. You don't wanna fall at the last hurdle."

  11. Greg really needs your support today and Radio 1 listeners have a planpublished at 08:50 GMT

Greg Jamie and Jamie LaingImage source, BBC / Comic Relief

Radio 1 listeners have a challenge: Get £150k raised by 9.30am, and Jamie Laing will join Greg James on the tandem, dressed in lingerie.

Jamie owes Greg a forfeit, because our Longest Ride hero helped him out two years ago by donning a wedding dress and running 5km.

Donations currently stand at £1,671,875 - so if a total of £1,821,875 is revealed by 9.30am, Jamie has to strip off, put on lingerie and get on the bike.

"Get it happening," says Greg, and he really means it.

"I really need everyone to club together. I don't wanna leave Sunderland until it's got to £2m. I'm serious. I'm going rogue and I don't care, because I'm so broken. I really wanna get these donations massive, because it's such a great cause. This pain is totally worth it. What I'm going through in my head this week is totally worth it. Because it's for the greater good."

  12. The steepest, toughest day awaitspublished at 08:32 GMT

Welcome back to our coverage of Radio 1's Longest Ride

Greg James has been doing his absolute best to not think too much about what's ahead. One hill at a time.

But today has probably been in the back of his mind over the last week. It's his toughest, steepest, longest day.

From Sunderland to Galasheils, he aims to cycle 152km in one day.

And it will be steep: A total elevation of 6,351ft.

Listen live to Radio 1 as we welcome him back on air. You can watch him live on this page from 9am GMT.

  13. Thank you for following our coverage of Day 6 of Radio 1's Longest Ridepublished at 18:22 GMT 18 March

Greg James is doing an incredible job, and pushing himself to the absolute limits, to get himself to Edinburgh on Friday.

He's off eating a very well-deserved wheel of his favourite cheese - that's the only kind of wheel Greg wants to see this evening!

We'll be back with more coverage first thing in the morning, as he embarks on his cycle from Sunderland to Galashiels in Scotland.

  14. "The hard times make the good times taste so much sweeter"published at 18:21 GMT 18 March

Katie, Vick and Greg have been reflecting on the difficulty of the challenge, and the incredible work that the charities that Comic Relief funds do around the UK.

Katie said: "I've always said, we're all just a couple of steps away from being in a situation where we desperately need help from organisations like this, and thank god that they exist, these organisations that Comic Relief funds. There's no way that you or someone around you won't have been affected by something that Comic Relief helps with."

And Vick shared a lovely message that had come in from listener Dean:

Hi Greg. As someone who's been living in a car for five years, and knows how hard it can be when you hit a wall and you don't feel like you can carry on... Just know, from me to you, whatever mental or physical resilience you need to muster over the next few days, you will find it when you need it the most. From the people around you, or the enormous donations coming in, you can do this. The hard times make the good times taste so much sweeter, so keep pushing, you good good boy.

  15. One final surprise for Greg todaypublished at 18:13 GMT 18 March

Greg's sister and niece were waiting for him at the finish line in Sunderland today, which was a fantastic surprise. But Katie and Vick had a message from another very special member of Greg's family...

Katie: Right Greg, some really good boys and girls out there greeting you today, and we do actually have a message from another good boy. Someone who's been very busy guarding the house while you're here.

    Greg: [gasps] Barney!! Barn-barn.

    [The sound of Barney barking]

Greg: [laughing] This is him - there's a fox in the back garden, that's him at the window, he can't bear it when there's a fox staring him out. The foxes taunt him like, "Alright posh boy? Alright posh boy in your fancy house? Think about us out here, we've got the run of all the bins."

Seeing his furry pal Barney gave Greg a much-needed boost after an incredibly long and tiring day.

  16. Want to support Greg?published at 18:10 GMT 18 March

  17. "It has been the hardest day, by far"published at 18:03 GMT 18 March

    Greg James
Live from Radio 1's Longest Ride

A nice man has given me some cheese - I've got a knife and I'm gonna start eating it. Shout out to Daniel, Mr Cheese...

I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm absolutely the most exhausted I've ever been.

It has been the hardest day, by far. Please, if you were waiting for some pain and agony and exhaustion for your donation - firstly, you're sick! But also, please, sicko, can you donate now?

This is the moment I really need that final push for, a humongous day tomorrow. I don't want to think about it too much but it is 150km tomorrow, from glorious Sunderland to Galashiels on the Scottish borders. So please, if we've been through your village, town or city today, please donate.

  18. Greg reacts to new total of £1.6 millionpublished at 17:43 GMT 18 March

    Greg James
Live from Radio 1's Longest Ride

Yes yes yes, it's going up, I'm so, so pleased.

I'll get back on that bike tomorrow morning, and we'll go ahead, and see what happens.

I'll lock in, you lock in. Keep the radio on, keep the live stream on, keep tracking me, keep waving, keep beeping, and we'll create a mad, magical thing at the end of it.

  19. Greg has been given the latest total - £1.6 million!published at 17:42 GMT 18 March

Greg has just been told that he has raised £1,671,875 - what an amazing amount of money to have raised.

Earlier today when he found out it was over £1.5 million, he said, "If this was the final total, I'd be over the moon." And now he's topped it! And there are still two more days to go to raise even more money.

  20. "I am very close to just sitting on the side of the road and crying"published at 17:28 GMT 18 March

    Greg James
Live from Radio 1's Longest Ride

The bit in the Yorkshire moors, I really nearly cracked. I don't know how I'm still going actually. I feel completely and utterly drained.

I think I sort of felt the pressure a bit today, the support is amazing, but I suddenly thought "Wow, imagine if I can't do the next bit?"

That's kind of weirdly spurring me on to go, "No no no, take it easy, keep pushing, keep squeezing those kilometers."

I'm so pleased that this thing that's been cooked up by all of us at Radio 1 and Comic Relief, is liked by people.

They like the fun challenge - and I'm just here to absolutely be clear, it is a challenge, and I am very close to cracking up and just sitting on the side of the road and crying, which I sort of did earlier today.
