A man who died after a second fatal fire at a house in County Offaly has been named locally as Christopher Holt.

Holt, whose body was found inside a property at Castleview Park in Edenderry, is the brother of a woman who was killed in the same property last year.

Four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and his great-aunt Mary Holt were killed in an arson attack at the property in December 2025.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the early hours of Tuesday morning and gardaí (Irish police) say they are investigating "all the circumstances" of the fire, which may have been a tragic incident.

The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

"A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, which will determine the course of any Garda investigation," police said.

After the attack in 2025, the young boy's grandmother also received hospital treatment for serious burn injuries.
