Drivers experienced hours of delays after part of the M1 in Hertfordshire was closed

Three people have been taken to hospital after a motorway collision involving a car, van and motorbike.

It happened on the M1 between Bricket Wood, near St Albans in Hertfordshire, and Watford at about 04:30 GMT.

Police, fire and ambulance services all attended, and the southbound carriageway was shut for about six hours before reopening at 10:30.

One person was arrested in connection with the incident, Hertfordshire Police said.
