Part of the M3 near Bagshot was closed after two HGVs crashed

A section of the M3 has reopened after a lorry crashed into a gantry and another ruptured a fuel tank leaving diesel spilled across the carriageway.

National Highways had closed part of the road heading eastbound between junction three, near Bagshot in Surrey, and junction two for the M25.

The two HGVs were reported to have crashed into each other before hitting the gantry and rupturing the tank at about 04:00 GMT on Thursday.

National Highways said all lanes had reopened.

The drivers of both vehicles were checked by health professionals, it added.

Emergency services including Surrey Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service went to the scene.
