Man who threatened to kill neighbour jailed
Nottinghamshire PoliceA man who made threats to kill his neighbour as part of a campaign of harassment has been jailed.
Christopher Brealey, of Highbury Road in Bulwell, Nottingham, was verbally abusive, played loud music and banged on walls in the early hours for six weeks around Christmas time.
But the neighbour had been documenting the problems, which led to Brealey being arrested on Tuesday, Nottinghamshire Police said.
The 57-year-old admitted a charge of harassment without violence and was sentenced to five months in prison when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Brealey also received a two-year restraining order - banning him from contacting his victim, and work is also ongoing with the housing agency to revoke his tenancy, police said.
Sgt Katie Taylor, of the Bulwell neighbourhood policing team, said: "I'd firstly like to highlight the bravery of the victim, whose persistent gathering of evidence helped build a watertight case against Brealey.
"All that footage played a key role in helping us secure a charge in this case, while it also meant he had no choice but to admit what he'd done.
"Brealey's aggressive and unpleasant actions over time amounted to harassment and caused a great level of distress to those he targeted."
