Sex offender jailed for abuse of 13-year-old girls
Humberside PoliceA man who sexually abused two 13-year-old girls has been jailed.
Alan Wigglesworth, from Scunthorpe, was found guilty of multiple sex offences by a unanimous jury following a five-day trial in November 2025.
The 45-year-old was sentenced to 15 years in prison with a five-year extended licence period at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday.
Det Con Nathan LeQuelenec, of Humberside Police, who led the investigation, praised the victims for their "patience and their maturity" throughout the process.
Humberside Police said Wigglesworth had been "manipulating and controlling" two 13-year-old girls.
The force said he gave them alcohol so he could perform sexual acts on them and told them they would be taken away if they tried to tell anyone about what he was doing to them.
'Detestable behaviour'
Wigglesworth was arrested at work in June 2025 on suspicion of sexual assault of two children aged under 13. He denied all allegations.
He was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 by touching and two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
A jury also found him guilty of sexual assault on a female and assault of a girl by penetration.
Det Con LeQuelenec said: "I know that this result will not take away the trauma they [the victims] have faced and continue to have to live with."
He added: "He cruelly took advantage of them, luring them in to sexually assault and abuse them all for his own perverse sexual gratification.
"To then plead not guilty and force the victims and their families through the ordeal of a trial could be seen as another twisted ploy to control them and appease his detestable behaviour."
Wigglesworth was also handed a restraining order against both victims and will be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
