Complaints over organisation of 10k run
BBCPeople taking part in a 10k run have complained of "shambolic" organisation.
Race organisers RunThrough said about 2,500 runners took part in the event in Wolverhampton on Sunday, which started and finished at the city's Molineux Stadium.
But participants on social media said race packs, including race numbers, had failed to arrive, there had been no race photos and long queues at the event.
RunThrough said there was an issue with the postal delivery of a portion of race packs, which meant contingency measures had to be put in on the morning of the event.
"However, the extent of the non-delivery of race numbers was more than we expected, even though signs pre-race indicated otherwise, which in turn led us to add in more precautionary methods to ensure everyone got a chip time - which led to some delays before and after the race," it continued.
"This is the first time we have experienced an issue like this in the thousands of races that we have organised, and we would like to apologise to everyone impacted."
In an email to participants, it apologised and added that a back-up timing process was implemented on the day, and facial recognition was used in its race photographs, so participants could get an accurate time.
Responding to a post by RunThrough on X, Joanne Whitfield wrote: "Absolutely shambolic organisation, the worst of any running event I've ever done.
"Booked this early in February, but never received pack with race number. So had to queue up before event to get this, only to be told they had not got any race numbers left. So no official time."
JonoH wrote: "Disgraceful set up. Forcing people to run without race numbers or emergency contacts because none of the race packs were sent out."
Shortie added: "Was looking forward to it but it was a shambles, no number through post, 45 minutes in a queue for a handwritten number on scrappy paper, no tag so no official time, missed warm up due to queuing. Told to queue again to register my own time."
