A man has died after a van overturned on the A27, police say.

Sussex Police said a 53-year-old man from Portsmouth was declared dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash in Hambrook, near Chichester, at about 05:30 GMT on Wednesday.

The eastbound carriageway of the road remained closed after both carriageways were initially shut following the crash, but has since also reopened.

Sussex Police said it was appealing for witnesses to the crash, which took place on a section of road between Newells Lane and Ratham Lane.

The driver's next of kin have been informed, Sussex Police added.
