Garage applies to scrap 24-hour alcohol sale rules
GoogleA petrol station operator which was granted permission to sell alcohol around the clock has applied to scrap restrictions that came with the approval.
The Morrisons filling station in Totnes, Devon, was given permission for 24-hour alcohol sales in September 2024 but four conditions on operators Motor Fuel Group were imposed by South Hams councillors, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
It included limitations on selling certain drinks with an alcohol percentage, or ABV, of 6% or more and a requirement two staff members to be on duty between 23:00 and 06:00.
The closing date for representations on the application is 5 March.
At the time of the 2024 application, police had no objections but there were objections from the town council, the town's street pastors and South Devon MP Caroline Voaden.
Other conditions included no sales of alcohol through a night pay window and a requirement to invite neighbours to a meeting at least every three months.
