The M1 in Derbyshire has reopened following a collision involving two vehicles.

Derbyshire Police said it was called to the motorway between Chesterfield and Staveley, at junctions 29a and 29, at about 06:50 GMT on Sunday, and both sides of the carriageway were initially closed.

A spokesperson for the force said a man was taken to hospital, where he remained, with injuries described as "not life-changing or life-threatening".

The southbound carriageway reopened first, but the northbound side remained shut for several hours longer, before reopening shortly after 11:00, according to National Highways.

National Highways also said the closure on the northbound carriageway was extended to junction 30, near Barlborough, before the closure was eventually lifted.

An air ambulance and National Highways officers also attended the scene.
