Glove found inside packet of Guernsey Dairy butter
BBCGuernsey Dairy is asking customers to "exercise caution" after part of a glove was discovered inside a bar of butter.
It said it received a "single, isolated report" from a business in the island that a piece of blue hygienic glove had been found in a 250g (8.8oz) packet of salted butter.
There was no evidence of any wider issue or ongoing risk to public health, the dairy said, but it advised customers with butter from batch 003 with a best before date of 1 July 2026 and timed between 11:50 and 12:02 to check before use.
A dairy spokesperson said customers should get in touch with the company in the "extremely unlikely" event of another bar being affected.
Operations director Andrew Tabel said the case was being investigated and it was "highly likely" the incident was limited to a single pack.
He said the dairy's products undergo a "robust and meticulous testing" before going on sale.
A total of 10,440 packets of butter were produced during the run the affected bar had been part of and the batch passed all mandatory tests, he added.
Tabel said: "I can reassure all of our customers that there is no immediate cause for concern, even if you have already consumed the butter in question.
"We take the quality of our products very seriously and will be continuing to fully investigate this incident and take the necessary actions to prevent any recurrence."
Guernsey Dairy said it was liaising with the Office of Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation to ensure all appropriate actions were taken.
