Stanley Taylor, of Theydon Close in Crawley, West Sussex, is due to stand trial in March 2027 over claims of indecent assault, sexual assault of a child, unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl and indecency with a child.
A force spokesperson added the offences, which were first reported in 2019, are believed to have taken place over nearly 40 years, between 1971 and 2009.
Taylor, who was a foster carer between 1971 and 1991, has been released on conditional bail pending his trial, the force added.
