The mother of a woman missing for eight years says she fears dying without ever knowing what happened to her.

Georgina Gharsallah was last seen in Worthing, West Sussex, on 7 March 2018.

On the day she went missing, the 38-year-old had arranged to meet her father after collecting a mobile phone, but she did not turn up.

Andrea Gharsallah said: "Some days I think I'm never going to see Georgina again. It's overwhelmingly sad."

Mum-of-two Georgina was last spotted on CCTV in a shop on Clifton Road, while a second unconfirmed sighting had her walking down Chapel Road with an as yet unidentified woman, police said.

A murder inquiry began in August 2019 and a £20,000 reward via the charity Crimestoppers was subsequently offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for her disappearance.

Gharsallah revealed that ahead of the eighth anniversary, she has been putting up missing posters on Broadwater Bridge in her continued hunt for Georgina.

It is an area where initial sightings of her had been reported, the family claims.

"Every year I replace the existing banners with ones which update how long Georgina's been missing," she said.

"Usually I do it on her birthday in October as well and I put ribbons on them or something.

"One lady contacted me the other day and said she and her young daughter always call it 'Georgina's Bridge' now. So it has become something significant."

Gharsallah added that, while she tries to live in hope, her worst fear is "to die without having any answers".

Det Supt Andy Wolstenholme, from Sussex Police, said: "We're really trying to follow up on every single lead that comes in and have spoken to well over 2,000 people in connection to this case.

"We've got thousands of reports and statements and have conducted house-to-house inquiries at nearly a 1,000 properties.

"But what is missing is that one piece of the puzzle that will give us the answers we want."

He urged anyone who might have any information regarding Georgina's whereabouts to get in touch.
