Two men have been arrested after an armed robbery at a Tesco Express store in Hadfield.

Derbyshire Police said three men entered the shop in Station Road, two armed with knives, at about 19:15 GMT on Thursday.

The force said nobody was physically harmed during the robbery and added the men made off with a substantial amount of cash and tobacco.

Police said the three men left the scene in a dark grey Audi A4 estate, which was spotted by officers from Greater Manchester Police and, following a pursuit, two men were arrested in Brownley Road, Wythenshawe.

The two men were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon. They both remain in police custody.

The third man involved is still outstanding, the force added.

Officers have appealed for dashcam footage from anyone driving between Hadfield and Wythenshawe who may have seen the Audi driving in an erratic manner.
