A missing part of the parachute system from a light aircraft that crashed killing two people has been found.

The small Cirrus SR 20 plane came down on farmland close to the M62 in Littleborough, near Rochdale, on 3 February.

A member of the public found the red device, which contains the propellant, four days later on 7 February, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

The aircraft had taken off from the XLR Executive Jet Centre - which specialises in serving VIP clients - at Birmingham Airport.

His family said he was a "deeply loving father and a devoted husband", who was due to start his "dream" new job as a commercial pilot.
