Man charged after ball boy hit by thrown crutch

A man has been charged after a ball boy was hit by a crutch that was thrown during a football match.

The 16-year-old suffered a cut to his face at the south coast derby between Portsmouth and Southampton on 25 January, police said.

Michael Wilson, 44, of Beedon Way, Eastleigh, has been charged with assault by beating and throwing a missile onto the playing area at Fratton Park, Portsmouth.

He is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court on 9 June.

Police have also charged Taylor Rogers, 32, of Havant Road, Portsmouth, with going onto the playing area at a football match.

He is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on 23 April.
