Apprentices training hub proposed for Arnish in Lewis
BBCA planning application has been submitted for a skills training facility at the Arnish fabrication yard in Lewis.
Owner Navantia UK proposes training welders and platers at the site.
Under the plans, an area of the yard used as recreation and changing facilities would be redeveloped.
Last week, the Spanish shipbuilding firm said it was seeking to employ 35 apprentices across its sites in Lewis and Fife.
Fifteen of the apprentices would be based at Arnish.
Navantia completed a deal to take over Arnish, near Stornoway, and Methil last year after the previous owner Harland & Wolff went into administration.
