Police are hunting two teenagers after a 94-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and robbed in a "despicable" attack in Falkirk town centre.

The woman's handbag was stolen in the incident, which happened on Hope Street at the junction with Meeks Road at about 12:55 on Monday.

Officers said the woman was badly shaken but did not require medical treatment.

Detectives said two males were seen running away from the area around the time towards Dollar Park.

Both are described as described as white, in their teens and of slim build.

The first was wearing black Nike trousers, a black and grey Nike jacket and Nike 95 trainers, black gloves, a black face-covering and a black crossbody bag.

The second was wearing a black Montirex jacket, black trousers, black Nike 95 trainers, black gloves, a black crossbody bag and had his face covered.

Police said CCTV inquiries were ongoing and officers were appealing for help from the public to identify the suspects.

Det Sgt Chris Scott said: "This is a despicable attack on an elderly woman in the town centre.

"I'd urge anyone who recognises the descriptions or saw what happened, to come forward.

"Anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage between Hope Street to Dollar Park is asked to review this for anything which may assist our investigation.

"I would also like to appeal directly to parents or carers of youths in the area as we believe these teenagers are local."
