Heavy traffic following motorway closure

There is heavy traffic in and around Bristol after a motorway was closed due to a police incident.

The M5 was shut in both directions between junction 18 for Avonmouth and junction 19 for Portbury, but has since reopened, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Traffic management site Inrix is reporting there are still long delays on the route, with congestion reaching junction 20 for Clevedon northbound and junction 17 for Cribbs Causeway southbound.

There is also heavy traffic on the A4 Portway into Bristol towards Hotwells after people diverted away from the southbound closure and on the A370 towards Congresbury following the northbound diversion.
