Drivers face disruption after a lorry burst into flames on a busy motorway.

The M4 was shut westbound between Bath/Tormarton at junction 18 and Bristol at junction 19 at 05:55 GMT on Thursday, but two lanes have since reopened.

One onlooker reported seeing "four massive explosions" from the articulated lorry.

Recovery vehicles are at the scene, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix, and traffic is currently coping well with the lane closure.

National Highways said traffic conditions are expected to return to normal between 17:15 and 17.30.
